RE: Oregon's Coast, HWY 101 to Crescent City, CA in winter

Just remember, this time of year if you can't see the mountains, it's raining. If you can see the mountains, it's gonna rain. Oregon state parks are the nicest we have found in our travels and we love em.

RE: Reno to Yosemite to Carmel

If you have good nerves and good driving skills, do take hwy. 1 up the coast. It is listed as one of the top 5 scenic drives in the world and having done it 4 times towing a 34' 5th wheel, I know it is doable. There are some spots that are tight, but if you go slowly, and pull over to let traffic pass when you can, you will have an unforgetable trip. The state park at Morro Bay is great as is the town, and Hearst Castle is an easy day trip from there. The town of Cambria is neat and good for a half day just wandering around. North of Cambria is a must see art gallery made from old wine vats 30' in diameter, and Pfeiffer Big Sur area is stunning. The state park there will not accept units over 27 or 28 feet but will allow you to dry camp in the overflow parking near where the old swimming pools used to be (40 years ago). From there, it is a short trip to Nepenthe and Ventana to see the sights ( and have a $5 latte), and a drink while watching the sunset into the ocean.
There is lots to do and see in the area and it is really worth the drive if you feel comfy on a road that has some narrow and windy sections. Happy holidays.

RE: Passport America

We have been PA members for 3 years now and manage to save about $200 a year for our $45 membership. We mostly travel "off peak" times so we find very little restrictions on the useage. Only time we have trouble is snowbirding and then we use our TT and book 4 months in advance.

RE: Titanium RV's

We have an '05 28e33ts model and have about 35k miles on it in the 3 1/2 years we have owned it and thus far, no real troubles. Fridge (dometic) had to be replaced, furnace had to be replaced, but both were done on our extended warranty at only a small cost to us. The unit has proven to be fairly reliable and other than some small electrical problems, and we are happy with it.
The quality is not as good as the really top end units like the alpenlite, but the price tags aren't as high either. As a good, mid-priced unit, they are great.

RE: RV campground near Benson, AZ

Cochise terrace is one of the best I have ever stayed at! It is also a passport park so there is even a discount. Most of the rest in town are right beside the railroad tracks with trains going by about once every 20 minutes.

Albuquerque balloon festival

We are booked into the balloon fest grounds for 4 nights of the festival with a group of 3 rvs travelling together. How tight are the spaces, how easy is it to get in and out of the park to sightsee, what else is there to do in the city for 4 days?
We know from the Reno fest that most of the action is over by about 10 am or so and getting up in the dark is mandatory if you want to see the burn off at sunrise or the glow show, so days are open to see whatever else there is to do.
Any suggestions?
